Deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at 355 Van Hook Rd, DeLand (documented narcotics residence) for a subject with an open felony warrant for fleeing and eluding and narcotics possession. While on scene, deputies obtained information that a subject sitting in a blue vehicle might have an open warrant. Deputies attempted to make contact with the individual and identify him, at which time he drove away from deputies and while navigating a circular driveway, approached the deputies as they were returning to their vehicles. The subject aimed his vehicle at deputies in an attempt to hit them, then fled the scene. Additional deputies, along with Air One, responded to the scene. The vehicle was located and fled from deputies when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Air One acquired the vehicle and two positive stop stick hits occurred, flattening the two front tires of the vehicle. Air One tracked the vehicle while deputies followed into Lake County where Lake County deputies assumed the following. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the driver was secured. The driver stated he ingested a large amount of methamphetamine and was transported to Advent Hospital DeLand. The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted and she stated D1 stole the vehicle and a stolen vehicle report was completed VSO case #20-13607. D1 was determined to have a suspended license and was on Inmate Release Status for Trafficking in Methamphetamine. After being released from the hospital, D1 was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault on LEO, Fleeing and Eluding, DWLS and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
